Collection of Surrey rocks and fossils within museums outside of county

A rather important collection of Surrey fossils which lies just outside of the county boundary within the London Borough of Croydon is that of the Croydon Natural History and Scientific Society which has its collection in store at the Chipstead Valley School, Woodmansterne. This collection which includes several thousand Surrey fossils collected from within its 'Regional Survey Area' (encompassing localities from Dorking and Betchwoth in the SE, Banstead U.D.C., Reigate and Merstham, Caterham, and Godstone R.D.C. as far south as Nutfield and Crowhurst in the SW) is one of the best local museum collections of Surrey fossils in existence.

Much smaller amounts of Surrey material are present within the collections of;

Kingston University (Kingston-upon-Thames)

Kingston Museum and Heritage Centre

London Borough of Sutton.

There may also be Surrey fossils etc. within the collections of Sevenoaks Museum, Bromley Museum (London Borough of), the Horniman Museum, Horsham Museum (Sussex), and at Alton (Hampshire County Museums Service).

It is in fact common to find small numbers of Surrey fossils within geological collections in museums throughout the SE of England.
