Other geological collections within the county

There are a number of large privately held collections of fossils, rocks, and minerals within the county.

Some private collections (for instance of mineral specimens) are composed predominantly of non-locally collected material, whist some of the fossil collections, although amateur, are quite specialist in their nature i.e. of fish teeth and otoliths, or of fossils from the Lower Greensand or Wealden formations.

There are no specific details of these privately held collections (within Surrey). Any enquiries about local collectors and collections should be addressed to local museum based geologists or curators.
