Surrey Museums Group

The SMG is a group that provides support and advice for all the museums in Surrey. Meetings give people a chance to meet staff from other museums in Surrey and to exchange ideas.

The Group also acts as a political voice commenting on issues relevant to museums in Surrey. Members of the group also sit on the Surrey Museums Consultative Committee, as representatives of the museum profession.

Who can join?

Any museum in Surrey can join the SMG as can nearby interested and related organisations at the Committee's discretion. Any staff from member museums can attend training days and meetings. Museums can send as many members of staff as they wish.

How much does it cost?

There is a nominal fee. Contact the chairman for more information.

A Newsletter is produced twice yearly, and updates member museums with what has been happening with their neighbours.

The Committee

The SMG has a committee of 12.
The Committee is elected at the AGM in the Summer, or co-opted during the year if necessary.
